Check to see if you can hear the gas valve click. Dirty burner or no gas pressure will keep it from lighting. You will need to check for 24v at the valve when its time for it to light. If you don't have 24v at the valve you may have a bad control board. No click and no voltage at valve so I am guessing control panel.

How to diagnose gas valve problems - DIY Home Improvement Forum

Jan 19, 2012 So, to diagnose a gas valve, first check to see if the pilot light is on. If so, then the thermocouple or thermopile is generating enough voltage to keep the safety valve open. If the appliance is a hot water heater but it's not firing up, the thermopile might be weak.

This is a HWH with a powered vent and a White-Rodgers intellivent control valve. The problem is that the solenoid won't reliably open when the HWH goes through its startup cycle when it calls for heat (fan on, ignitor on, solenoid power on, etc.). Often the HWH will go through 1 or 2 startup cycles and the valve will open on the third try.

Furnace won't open gas valve - possible control board issue?

You also should normally hear and feel and slight click from the solinoid in gas valve. If you have voltage but valve isn’t opening, the valve is most likely bad. It will need a like replacement. If it is not getting 24vac then follow the wire and check for switches in series or a loose connection. But in that car, it’s most likely a bad board.
